️OUTDOOR MATCHES + RAIN

During exams in spring/summer, some of our matches are played on outdoor courts. Falling rain doesn't automatically mean matches are cancelled. In run up to match day Netball Fun League monitor weather using BBC + Accuweather. We also have built up a lot of historical data on each venue/courts + how they cope with moisture. If rain is falling... all players should moderate their play accordingly

Team Organisers are sent a Whatsapp Group message informing them of the cancellation by 5pm. The Team Organiser should then communicate with their team. These matches will be rescheduled at the end of the season where possible.

Our Umpires monitor court conditions throughout the evening and if they think that courts have become unsuitable/dangerous – they will stop play + contact head office

If more than half match has been played:

The score stands as the final result + Full Match Fees and Umpire Fees apply.

If less than half match has been played:

Netball Fun League will contact via Text/WhatsApp/Phone, informing about the cancellation for any remaining matches on the evening, and those matches will be rescheduled at the end of the season if possible.

HOT WEATHER

Hot weather is a welfare risk we take seriously across all our venues — indoors and outdoors. When conditions reach a level where player safety may be affected, Netball Fun League Head Office may activate our Hot Weather Protocol.
We use Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) alongside on-site temperature and humidity readings to assess conditions. All decisions are made by Head Office — umpires do not have the authority to cancel or modify matches unless directed by us.

All matches within affected league(s) will be played with 4x 8 Minute Quarters + 3x 2 Minute Hydration Breaks

  • To provide additional opportunities for umpires + players to hydrate
  • Increase rest + recovery periods
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day, bring additional water whilst at your venue
  • Apply sunscreen if playing outdoors + seek shade during breaks
  • If you are feeling unwell or suffer from the heat you should not play
  • If during a match you feel unwell, feeling dizzy, light headed, headache or nauseous… stop playing immediately – inform your Team Organiser + Umpires
