Terms and Conditions

Please read carefully. Please note "Covid-19 Amendments" are highlighted in pink box

1.1       It is the responsibility of the Team Organiser to ensure that the team is ready to play at the scheduled time each week and that every member of the team is aware of and will abide by the rules herein.

1.2       A player wishing to question any of the League terms and conditions, must inform their Team Organiser – who is required to make their views known in writing to Netball Fun League via the Netball Fun League Contact Us page – click here

1.3       If a team wishes to change their Team Organiser at any point, a request must be sent in writing to Netball Fun League via the Contact Us page – click here
The new Team Organiser will then accept responsibility to fulfil and pay for all fixtures as required and agree to abide by the league rules.

2.1    All players must be 16 or over and team organiser must be 18 or over unless previously agreed with Netball Fun League. All players must wear appropriate footwear and must not wear anything that is potentially harmful to anyone.  Netball Fun League advise that anyone over 12 weeks pregnant do not play.

2.2.    Players under the age of 18 are required to fill out a parental consent form before they start playing. These can be requested by using the Netball Fun League Contact Us form – click here

.
2.3    A maximum number of 10 players are allowed to ‘register’ with each team; and players can join a team at any point during the season (as long as the Team Organiser understands and adheres to the Netball Fun League Player Rating Guide – click here).  In order for a game to commence however, a minimum of five players is required in each team.

2.4    A player can only be registered for one team in any given league.

2.5    If a team does not have enough players, then they can ask to borrow a player from another team – a “ringer”.  However, if they are unable to find players, then the team may either play with the minimum of 5 players or concede the game 15 – 0 (See paragraph 5.2 for details of the fees applied). Please ensure you are adhering to the ringers rule when you are looking for players.

2.6    If a team plays a match with more than 5 ringers, then for the purposes of the match result, this would be deemed a “conceded” match, and the opposition would win the match 15:0.

2.7    If a team fields an illegal ringer then they will be deducted 5 points from their league table, and the team they were playing against for that fixture will be awarded 5 points.

2.8    Players should be an appropriate standard for the division they are playing in, and Netball Fun League reserve the right to ask a player to leave a team, if their skill level is deemed too high for the league they are playing in.

3.1    Netball Fun League matches are controlled by two umpires. The umpires are on court to ensure safe and fair play, through enforcing the official rules of netball.  The umpire’s decision is final. Please respect their decisions.

3.2    The umpires also keep track of the score, whether a team arrives late, and any disciplinary issues that arise – all of which will be fed back to the organisers of Netball Fun League.

4.1    Please ensure that all players arrive at the venue at least 10 minutes in advance of their start time.  The team needs to have their nails checked by an umpire, hair tied back, jewellery removed and bibs on – ready to start on time – as this enables maximum playing time for all teams.
NB: Each Netball Fun League kit bag includes a Nail Care Kit – Nail Files, nail clippers and nail scissors.

4.2    Team Organisers need to find one another and do the toss in advance. The winner decides whether to have the first centre pass or choose an end to shoot at first.  If they choose the centre pass, then the other team picks which end to shoot – and vice versa.

4.3    The games commence on the umpire’s whistle, and the official England Netball rules apply.

5.1    If a team arrives late, but before the end of the first break late team starts FIVE goals down. If a team arrives after the first break the game is conceded 15 – 0 and the late team must pay both the umpire and opposition’s match fee, in addition to their own match fees.

5.2    If a team cannot find enough players for a particular match and have to concede there are financial implications:

With more than 24 hours notice £45 | On the Day.. (before 4pm) £90 | On the Day.. (after 4pm) £120

5.3   Should a team need to concede their match then they must email Netball Fun League via the Contact Us page – click here
Teams SHOULD NOT POST ON FACEBOOK OR FACEBOOK RINGERS GROUPS. This causes all sorts of confusion. Netball Fun League will make appropriate arrangements for the cancelled match.

NOTE: You CAN play with less than 2 regular players, but it will mean the points will be awarded to the opposition. Finding ringers however, will avoid your team having the above financial penalties.

5.4    A team may only concede one match in any one season with Netball Fun League, and will incur a £35 fine if they concede more than one in a season.

6.1    Each match consists of three 13-minute thirds, three 12-minute thirds or two 20-minute halves, depending on the venue. The start and finish of play will be signalled by the umpires whistle, and there will be a one-minute break between thirds/halves, during which teams swap ends.

6.2     Substitutions can only be made during breaks, unless replacing an injured player.

7.1    There is no injury time. Therefore, if a player is injured the clock will not stop, although every effort will be made to resume play as soon as possible.  If an injured player is unable to continue playing, a substitution should be made without further delay.   If the injured player’s team does not have any substitutes, then the players on court, from both teams, can swap positions.

7.2    In the event of serious injury Netball Fun League will decide whether the time remaining will be played at a later date. If more than half the match has been played then the score at time of injury will stand.

7.3    There are First Aid Kits in every Netball Fun League kit bag, at every venue. PLEASE NOTE:  If a player is injured during a match, it is the teams responsibility to look after their players. Umpires are not there to administer First Aid.  Most of our venues have a first aider on hand, who can be contacted by the team if necessary.

8.1    5 points are awarded for a win, 3 points are awarded for a draw, 2 points if you get within 5 of opponents, 1 point if you get more than half of opponents

8.2    Up-to-date fixture lists and league tables will be displayed on our website – click here

8.3    The length of each season is dependent on the number of teams in each division and would either be 20, 21 or 22 weeks.

8.4    If a team joins the league late, or a team for whatever reason has played less games than the rest of the league, then Netball Fun League will calculate that teams points using our average score spreadsheet. The spreadsheet takes into account the number of games played against the number of games in the season, and averages out the points scored for the games played. This will be done at the end of the season, and the league table adjusted accordingly.

9.1     All teams/players sign up to our Code of Conduct when they agree to play in Netball Fun League (A copy of this is sent to the Team Organiser at the time of registration. It is the Team Organisers responsibility to ensure that their team members are also aware of this Code of Conduct. Players that do not adhere to it could be subject to disciplinary action as detailed below. To view the current Code of Conduct – click here

9.2     All infringements and misconduct will be dealt with by the umpires accordingly.  The umpire’s decision is final.

9.3     In the case of serious misconduct or persistent rule breaking, an umpire may order a player from the court. It is at the umpire’s discretion the length of time they must remain not on court. The offending player can only return on court:  i) immediately after a goal has been scored, or ii) after an interval, following the end of their sending-off period.

9.4     If a report is submitted by an umpire regarding the behaviour / attitude of a player, Netball Fun League may find it necessary to suspend that player.

10.1  Match fees are £35 per team per match (from Autumn/Winter 2024/25 Season). The Team Organiser must assign their payment card when they register their team and thus becomes the Team Account Holder (although any team member can be the account holder for payment). Match fees are then taken via the auto payment process from the assigned card the day after each match. Please Note: If the team account is in credit (or the match was cancelled for any reason) then no payment will be taken. If the Team Organiser/Team Account Holder wishes to change the Account Holder they must Contact Us by clicking here)

10.2  Umpire Fees are £10 per team per match (cash – please try and have correct change).  Umpire fees are paid to one of the umpires before each game. In the event of there only being one umpire for a match, then each team is still required to pay the umpire their £10

10.3  If a team owes money to Netball Fun League for any reason, the team organiser has the legal responsibility for the debt.

10.4  If a team owes money to Netball Fun League at the end of a season, Netball Fun League reserves the right to withhold League Winners or League Runners Up prizes (if applicable).

11.1  There is a £24.50 Team Registration fee per team per season. This should be paid at the time of registration to ensure your place in the league. Netball Fun League only accepts payment via the secure Stripe payment gateway.

12.1  Our social netball leagues are normally 21 to 24 weeks in duration, and when a team registers they are committing to the whole season. If a team decides to withdraw from the league mid-season, they shall be liable for payment of the whole seasons match fees.

13.1  All players take part in the leagues entirely at their own risk.  Netball Fun League do not accept liability for any personal injury or loss/damage to property howsoever caused.

13.2  We recommend that players/teams take out their own insurance policies to cover such eventualities.
PLEASE NOTE:  If you are already affiliated to England Netball, you ARE covered to play in our leagues, up to their Silver Level – For further details, visit England Netball’s website – click here

Over the spring/summer months, some of our netball leagues will be played outdoors. As we all know the English weather can be a little unpredictable and long hot summer nights for netball is one thing we cannot guarantee. However a spot of rain will not make us cancel a match! During winter months occasionally bad weather can also present problems for indoor venues/access etc. Should the weather cause problems here is how Netball Fun League communicate any match cancellations:

MATCH CANCELLATION PROCEDURE:
In the run up to match days and on match days themselves we monitor the weather at our venues very carefully via BBC, Accuweather and local radio, and are in contact with the venues themselves PLUS friends in the locality for weather updates. Should the decision be taken to cancel a whole evening of matches:

14.1   Team Organisers are sent an SMS Text message and/or Whatsapp message informing them of the cancellation at 5pm. The Team Organiser should then communicate with their team.

14.2   The same message will simultaneously be posted on the main Netball Fun League Facebook page + Ringers Groups and Team Organisers will be tagged (if they are in that group)

14.3   If the whole evenings matches are cancelled then these matches will be rescheduled at the end of the season where possible.

If the Umpires deem a change in the weather or any other situation warrants the cancellation of a match during play on the day then:

14.4   If more than half of the match has been played, then the score at the time of stoppage will be the final match result – full match fees and umpire fees apply.

14.5   If less than half of the match has been played, then that match will be rescheduled at the end of the season – teams do not have to pay umpire fees or match fees.

14.6   Netball Fun League will SMS Text Team Organisers and use the Facebook page informing about the cancellation for any remaining matches on the evening, and those matches will be aim to be rescheduled at the end of the season.

15.1  Netball Fun League reserves the right to alter these Terms and Conditions at any time during a season, and will notify all Team Organisers of the amendments via email.  We may also need to change the match night, time or venue where necessary.  It is the Team Organisers responsibility to make their team aware of the changes.

15.2 Netball Fun League may from time to time photograph or video participants in our leagues (especially for the League Winners / Runners Up and Cup Finals). This material will be used solely for marketing purposes both on and offline.  Should participants not wish to be photographed or videoed, they should make this known to Netball Fun League via our Contact Us page – click here for information regarding our Privacy Policy – click here

15.3  Any complaints must be submitted in writing to Netball Fun League via the Contact Us page – click here
